Masseter Tox in Palestine, TX

Masseter Tox softens a square or overworked jawline and eases the tension that comes with clenching or grinding your teeth — often easing jaw-related headaches along the way. It works by relaxing the masseter, the muscle at the back of the jaw that powers chewing, so it sits smaller and carries less tension at rest. Results build gradually over several weeks, with normal chewing and biting force generally preserved at an appropriately assessed dose.

Downtime
None to minimal — mild soreness at the injection site for 1–2 days is common.
Results Last
Typically 4–6 months per treatment cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long until I see my jawline change shape?

The masseter muscle relaxes gradually as the neuromodulator takes effect, so most people notice the muscle feeling softer within the first one to two weeks, with the visible slimming of the jawline continuing to develop over several weeks as the muscle sits smaller at rest. Because this is a gradual muscle change rather than an immediate swelling reduction, it's worth judging your results at the four-week mark rather than a few days after treatment. Your injector will let you know what to expect at your specific consultation.

Will Masseter Tox change the way I chew or speak?

The masseter is one of several muscles involved in chewing, so at an appropriately assessed dose, normal chewing and speaking are generally preserved. Some people notice their bite feels slightly different or less forceful in the first couple of weeks as the muscle adjusts, which is expected rather than a sign of a problem. The number of units used is based on the size and strength of your jaw muscles and is determined during your consultation, not a one-size-fits-all amount.

Can Masseter Tox help with teeth grinding or jaw clenching, not just the shape of my jaw?

Yes — for many clients, the appeal of Masseter Tox is as much about the tension relief as the slimming effect. Relaxing an overactive masseter can ease the discomfort that comes with habitual clenching or grinding, including a tired or sore jaw by the end of the day. It isn't a substitute for a nightguard or a dental evaluation if grinding is a chronic issue, but it can meaningfully reduce day-to-day muscle tension.

How is Masseter Tox different from the Tox used on my forehead or around my eyes?

It's typically the same type of neuromodulator, but placed in a different muscle for a different purpose. Forehead and eye-area Tox relaxes small, thin muscles to soften expression lines. The masseter is a much larger, stronger muscle used for chewing, so it's dosed differently and the goal is functional — reducing muscle bulk and clenching tension — in addition to the aesthetic, slimmer-jawline effect.

How often will I need to repeat Masseter Tox to maintain the results?

Most clients return roughly every four to six months as the muscle gradually regains its full strength and size. Some people find that after several consistent treatment cycles, the muscle stays smaller for longer between sessions, but that varies from person to person and isn't something we can promise in advance.

How much does Botox cost for the jaw (Masseter Tox)?

Pricing depends on your treatment plan, so your provider reviews it with you at your consultation. Other Tox treatments, like forehead lines or underarm sweating, are planned separately based on the muscle group and amount needed.

Is Botox safe?

Botulinum toxin injections like Masseter Tox have a well-established safety profile when the dose is assessed correctly and the person injecting is trained to do it. The most common side effect is mild soreness at the injection site, which typically resolves within a day or two. It isn't the right treatment for everyone — it's not recommended if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant, if you have a neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or if you have a known allergy to the product, which is why your health history is reviewed at your consultation before any treatment is recommended. Every Masseter Tox treatment here is performed personally by Rhonda Hardin, RN, under the medical supervision of Daniel Olivero, MD, so that screening happens with the same provider every visit.

What are the risks of Tox?

Like every botulinum toxin product, Tox carries an FDA boxed warning: its effects can spread from the injection site and cause muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, double vision, or trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, hours to weeks after treatment. Swallowing or breathing problems can be life-threatening, so contact us or seek urgent care if you notice any of these.

Is masseter Tox an FDA-approved use?

BOTOX Cosmetic’s FDA label covers frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and platysma bands. Masseter treatment isn’t on that list, which makes it an off-label use. Your provider will talk through what that means before you decide.
