Lip Flip in Palestine, TX
A lip flip shows more of your natural upper lip for a subtle, fuller-looking smile — without adding any volume. It works by placing a small amount of Tox at the border of the upper lip to relax the muscle that curls it inward, a movement change rather than the added volume you'd get from Lip Fillers. It's a subtle effect by design, better suited to enhancing your natural lip line than a dramatic, immediately obvious change.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the actual difference between a lip flip and lip filler?
A lip flip uses a small amount of Tox at the upper lip border to relax the muscle that curls the lip inward, letting more of the natural lip 'flip' outward and become visible — it doesn't add any volume. Lip filler, on the other hand, adds hyaluronic acid to physically increase lip volume and shape. They solve different problems: a flip works with the lip you already have, while filler adds to it.
Can a lip flip and lip filler be combined?
Yes, many clients do both — the flip to show more of the natural lip line, and filler to add volume where they want it. Your provider can talk through whether combining them makes sense for your goals or whether starting with one is the better approach.
Will this affect my ability to drink from a straw or whistle?
Because the treatment relaxes a small area of the upper lip muscle, some people notice a temporary, minor change in movements like drinking from a straw or whistling for the first week or two while the treatment settles in. This isn't universal and tends to be mild, but it's worth knowing about ahead of time, especially if you have an event where it matters.
Can this help with a gummy smile?
For some clients, yes — relaxing the upper lip muscle can reduce how high the lip rises when smiling, which is part of what causes a gummy smile. The degree of improvement depends on the individual cause of your gummy smile, which your provider will assess at your consultation.
How long does a lip flip last?
A lip flip typically lasts 6 to 10 weeks, since it works by relaxing the upper lip muscle rather than adding volume that would last longer, like filler does. Because it's a shorter-acting treatment, many clients build it into a regular routine or pair it with filler for a longer-lasting combined result. Your provider can talk through a repeat schedule that fits your goals at your consultation.
What are the risks of Tox?
Like every botulinum toxin product, Tox carries an FDA boxed warning: its effects can spread from the injection site and cause muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, double vision, or trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, hours to weeks after treatment. Swallowing or breathing problems can be life-threatening, so contact us or seek urgent care if you notice any of these.
Is a lip flip an FDA-approved use?
BOTOX Cosmetic's FDA label covers frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines, and platysma bands. A lip flip isn't on that list, which makes it an off-label use. Your provider will talk through what that means before you decide.
